The first thing you need to do is to open your preferences
Once you have your system preferences open you should see the above screen. From here click on Internet and you will be presented with this screen
When you see the above screen it is helpful to disconnect your wireless and ethernet(internet) cable so that all of the lights in the system settings are red. Now connect your phone to your computer and open PDAnet and click to enable the tether. Now go to the top toolbar and you should see the PDAnet icon (the black phone icon from the previous post) Click it and select connect. After you connect, your internet settings should look like the above image with one of the red lights now green. Click that one so that it is highlighted and click advanced. Doing so will bring you to the following screen
When at this screen scroll to the bottom and you should see a check box labeled automatic proxy configuration. Check that box as seen below and then close the settings and check to see if you now have internet.
Hope that helped and if not let us know and we'll try to walk you through it
What about for Mac 10.4??
ReplyDeleteShould work the same
ReplyDeletePDAnet says that the current version only works with Mac 10.5 or higher. I tried downloading it but it won't install on my 10.4. Any way to get around this short of upgrading to leopard? Thanks.
ReplyDeletepdanet wired tether is only available for 10.5, however you should be able to use bluetooth to connect. Let me know if that works, and if not we can try something else.
ReplyDeleteI have DroidX, a Macbook Pro, and PdaNet connects correctly, but I get no internet, and I get the message (in Network, under Preferences): "Ethernet Adaptor (en2) has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the Internet". On an older MacBook, also running Snow Leopard, I have no such message and I get a good connection. What in the world is going on?
ReplyDeleteI had the tether working fine from my Droid to my Dell, but now I am trying to tether it to my ibook g4 with 10.5. I have done everything it just times out every time I try to connect from the pdaNet icon on my computer. Please help!
